Indycar Finale at Sonoma Raceway August 30, 2015

Funny, I barely have any Pictures of actual Indycars, gotta get a pit pass for next year as this was a great event!

Some highlights from Russo and Steele

I had the opportunity to do some volunteering at Russo and Steele this year during Monterey Car Week, here are some highlight pictures… what a great experience!

Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion 2015

This is a great event that included 3 nights of camping once again at this incredibly historic race track. Here are some pics from the pits and the event itself. We had some interesting neighbors in the campsite as well!

Werks Reunion 2015

Ok, it’s been a little while since posting, but here’s some photos from the Werks Reunion during Monterey Car Week 2015. You can see more here. A great PCA event at a great location. Area traffic is absolutely horrific but with some planning you can get through the week easily. I was asked to go up and speak to our experiences with the Le Mans trip this past June, right before they pulled the drawing for next year’s trip… so great!

Schloss Sigmaringen, Burg Hohenzollern and into Hinterzarten

We started off today by leaving Lindau and had two castle visits on the agenda before arriving in the black forest region. I picked out Sigmaringen castle sort of as an afterthought, reasoning that it was kind of sort of on the way to the main stop of Hohenzollern. Well, surprises are always abound when on holiday exploring. When we arrived into the town of Sigmaringen, we stumbled upon the Vino Miglia vintage car rally taking place right through the small downtown area. What a cool sight to see some vintage european machinery on a Friday afternoon, and an odd 30’s Chevrolet seemingly lost in the German countryside. Looks like they have a FB page here. When we actually saw the castle, it was absolutely beautiful and was a real sight to take in. We went ahead with the tour, which was in German only (but with a full english binder full of facts for the tour). That was well worth it as this castle has some real history inside it’s walls. Tons of original weaponry from a thousand years ago and turns out that this castle is in the same family line as our next stop Burg Hohenzollern. This one was amazing just from the location of it’s structure atop a mountain and it’s perspective on the towns below. Truly breathtaking, I know I use this word a lot but there is no other way to describe this country! This hour tour was also in German, but with an accompanying English binder full of castle description and was well worth the time. After a lengthy ride into the Black Forest, we finally arrived into our hotel for the night, the Park Adler, great spot that would surely be packed in the wintertime as it reminds me of Tahoe in it’s scenery. Tomorrow would include a nice drive up some A road Autobahn back into Stuttgart! By the way, in case you were wondering, we were cruising a 991 GTS Cabriolet, set up by the wonderful folks at Fastlane Travel. This thing was absolutely addicting… I’m a manual guy but that PDK with Sport Plus, an absolute brilliant combination! Tons of A road footage, I have to sit and put some clips together at some point. Thanks Sven for this and all of the arrangements for this week, had a blast and can’t wait to do it all over again!

Schloss Neuschwanstein, Linderhof Palace and Lake Plansee, Austria

Yes, I know Neuschwanstein is a total tourist trap, but it was fascinating nonetheless. Breathtaking views and awesome architecture, no wonder Walt loved it so much. It’s a must see and prompted us to explore further to Linderhof palace which Bavarian Kind Ludwig II also constructed before his untimely death. Look up the story, it’s an interesting tale and he seemed an interesting ruler as well. We also drove through a little two way street along the banks of Lake Plansee in Austria, such a wonderful spot with more breathtaking scenery.

Mindelheim and Ottobeuren en route to Lindau

Here’s a small village and Cathedral that we stumbled upon just after our visit to the Ruf workshop, on recommendation from the service manager there, along with a few shots on the Autobahn en route to Lindau.

The Food!

German Food Delicacies, the food was fantastic, although I don’t know how they can eat these everyday!
